  1. The trivium consisted of three of the seven liberal arts in medieval 
  2. times. Grammar (including literature), logic and rhetoric (including law) 
  3. were the courses of study necessary for a bachelor‚Äôs degree. Upon 
  4. completion of a B.A., students would move to their Master of Arts 
  5. which consisted of arithmetic, astronomy, geometry and music. 
  6. Together, the two courses of study comprised the seven liberal arts.
